The Regions of Australia

May – November
North Australia, for the most part, home to the rural center of Australia. In regard to climate, Northern Australia is generally warm, with shifts between wet and dry, making it ideal for individuals seeking an outdoor lifestyle experience. Additionally, it is recognized as the third largest state in Australia, with only 300,000 inhabitants approximately. Talk about vast!

With cities like Darwin in its midst, the Northern territory still has a blend between city and country. Visit Darwin to visit various crocodile parks and reminisce on the days of Dundee. The beautiful state of Queensland, located near the Great Barrier Reef, is surrounded by some of the most well-known islands and water bays in Australia, including the Whitsunday Islands! The Northern Territory, specifically, represents a more rural and culturally integrated region of Australia. Visit Uluru, a famous and humongous sand monolith located at the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National park.

October – April
Southern Australia is known for its diverse lifestyle, welcoming a number of individuals into its heart each year. Home to well-known cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, Southern Australia presents an almost perfect balance between metropolitan living and natural exploration. The climate includes warm, dry summers and short, mild winters, inviting over 300 days of sunshine per year.

Cities in Southern Australia are home to a large number of noteworthy zoos and aquariums, along with a number of museums and world-renowned landmarks. Some of these attractions include: the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne’s Royal Botanical Gardens and Perth’s Penguin Island. Last but not least, Tasmania is an island state and is home to a number of breathtakingly beautiful mountains, including Cradle Mountain and Mount Wellington.

September – March
Brisbane is the capital city of Queensland, which is known as Australia’s sunshine state! Unlike many large cities in Australia, Brisbane is not located on the coast, and therefore, is not directly located near beaches and is more laidback than bustling cities like Sydney. Similar to Southern Australia, Brisbane’s climate offers hot summers and mild winters. Most importantly, however, Brisbane is known for their amazing level of hospitality. Calm, happy, and inclusive, Brisbane is a great location to feel welcomed and free!

Brisbane is full of mountains and natural attractions, great for individuals fueled by a desire to take excursions, hikes, and be with mother earth. In addition to this, adventure seekers will love the Giant Drop, a 390 foot drop tower ride and landmark located at the Dreamworld Theme Park in Queensland.
